Funding for skate park ordinance passed unanimously

The Salisbury City Council has passed a budget amendment regarding the Salisbury Skate Park.

According to council member Laura Mitchell, the amendment was passed unanimously Monday after the ordinance initially passed in late October.

The cost to install safety fencing around the front of the 5,400 square foot park is more expensive than initially thought, so the city needs an additional 5,000 dollars.

The suggestion was to retrieve the additional funds from the city’s surplus budget.

Council member Laura Mitchell says she has high hopes it will be approved.

Mitchell also says they would eventually like to enclose the entire skate park with an automatic gate.
