Educator awarded “Teacher Who Makes A Difference”

A Berlin educator was awarded our Teacher Who Makes A Difference contest sponsored by 47 ABC and Accurate Optical.

Brenda Hommel was surprised by our news crew on Tuesday morning. Hommel teaches math at Stephen Decatur high school.

She’s been an educator for over twenty years but has been at Decatur for eight years. We’re told she teaches about 50 students this year.

“When you can connect with your students and you can let them know that your number 1 priority  is their success in learning not necessarily being their friend not being the cool teacher getting them to that next level of learning.” Explained Hommel.

If you would like to nominate a teacher, be sure to submit nominations by clicking on “Contests”.
