Eastern shore scores poorly on college readiness test

Test results are in for Maryland’s recently implemented standardized tests, known as PARCC.
With the exception of Worcester County all school districts on the Eastern shore scored below the state average for English, which was 40 percent.
As for math, all but Worcester and Queen Anne’s scored below the state average which was 31 percent.
Although the results are troubling, especially in county’s such as Somerset where less than five percent scored as college ready in Algebra, education officials say a poor score during the first year of a new standardized test isn’t abnormal.
