District four candidates discuss platforms

Roger Mazzullo and current City of Salisbury Mayor Jim Ireton are running for the district four council seat. Mazzullo was present at the Salisbury University candidate panel hosted by 47 ABC where he explained how he would bring businesses to Salisbury and keep graduating SU graduates in the area. 47 ABC caught up with Mayor Ireton over the weekend where he gave us his take on the issue.

Mazzullo says, “We will look forward to bringing more businesses to the downtown water way. With the new Salisbury University building on the plaza, we are going benefit from a brain gain. This will entice college graduates to start entrepreneurial businesses in Salisbury and continue to live and raise their families.”

Mayor Ireton says. “We need to make sure that our neighborhoods are safe, there’s parks and recreation to participate in, and that our schools are the best they could possibly be. Schools are not a part of the city government so we have to do our part with our county partners to make this place as attractive as it can be.”

District five is unopposed. Polls open tomorrow at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. The board of elections note if you’re in line by 7 p.m. you can still vote.
