Authorities: Illegal deer hunting leads to police chase

(AP) – Delaware Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police are searching for one person and have arrested another following a pursuit that began after authorities say they observed two people performing illegal hunting practices.
Police drove to Harbeson on Saturday evening after receiving complaints about illegal deer spotlighting. The practice of hunting deer by using an artificial light source to capture their attention at night is illegal.
Authorities say the suspects drove away from approaching officers, leading them on a pursuit that stopped on a dead-end road. Officers say the driver, 46-year-old David G. Richards of Lewes, was taken into custody, but the vehicle’s passenger fled on foot.
Richards faces numerous charges, including felony failure to stop on command of police. It’s unclear whether he has an attorney to comment on the charges.
