Wicomico High lends a hand in Angel Tree Appeal campaign

The holidays are right around the corner, and students at Wicomico High School got a head start in some of the altruistic festivities on Wednesday.
Every year, Coastal Hospice displays trees around Wicomico, Worcester, Dorchester, and Somerset counties during the holiday season. Every tree is filled with paper-angel ornaments.
About 30 students spent their day stuffing the envelopes for Coastal Hospice on Wednesday with those ornaments inside.
The angels get mailed out in hopes of getting donations and people send them back in memory of someone or a survivor.
This is the third year Wicomico High School has helped with the project.
Greg Nay, a special education instruct, says it’s not only a big fundraiser for Coastal Hospice but it also teaches a thing or two to the students.
“We really try to sell that with the importance of what they are doing so they understand that this not just something Mr. Nay has assigned to them…that it’s making a difference in the community.” Says Nay.
Overall, we’re told about 9,500 envelopes will be sent out this year. The school predicts the students will finish the work within a week.
One of those trees will be on display right here at 47 ABC. It can be seen on Good Morning Delmarva.
