Vikings survive in PKs to get revenge on Colonels

The Cambridge girls soccer team is moving on to the second round of the Maryland playoffs after defeating Colonel Richardson 3-2 (2-0, PKs) on a game that couldn’t be decided with two overtimes, and was eventually settled on penalty kicks.
Colonel got the scoring started when Lilene Souil scored on a breakaway with 13:55 to go in the first half. CSD would tie it up with just under 5 minutes to go before half, when Emily Brohawn knotted her only goal of the night, the teams would go into the break tied at one.
The Vikings took their first lead in the second half, when Ashley Pete’s long shot hit off Colonel keeper Jayna Turner’s hands and into the net. With time running out, the Colonels began to turn the pressure. That sense of urgency would pay off as Souil would again find the back of the net off of a corner kick with 4 minutes remaining. Both offenses pressed on but the game would end up being tied after the end of regulation.
After two scoreless overtime periods, the teams would move to penalty kicks. After Colonel missed their first attempt, CSD keeper Kaylie Seabrease would come up and burry her attempt. The Vikings would only need one more successful PK, before the Colonels missed their final attempt.
The Vikings move on to face Kent County next round.
