UPDATE: Millsboro man killed in Georgetown crash

A Monday evening crash in Georgetown that reportedly killed a Millsboro man, is under investigation.

Delaware State Police say on Monday, around 9:00 PM, 37-year-old Joshua Fleming, was driving a 1995 Ford F150 pickup truck on Downs Road, coming up to a stop sign at the intersection of Wilson Road. At the same time, Authorities say 45-year-old John Clayville, was driving a 2011 International truck tractor owned by Perdue, with no trailer attached, on Wilson Road approaching the intersection of Downs Road.

Both vehicles arrived at the intersection at the same time, but according to the report for unknown reasons, Fleming didn’t stop at the stop sign, and drove directly into the path of the tractor trailer, which hit the pickup on the passenger side. The impact caused both vehicles to continue off the road, and into an area of small pine trees. Police say Wilson Road doesn’t have a stop sign, and has the right of way at the intersection.

Fleming was reportedly wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, but was extensively trapped in the truck. He was later pronounced dead at the scene. Clayville, was also reportedly wearing a seat belt, and was taken from the scene by EMS to Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital, where he was treated, and released with no reported injuries.

The DSP Collision Reconstruction says they are continuing their investigation into the incident. Wilson Road was closed at Downs Road for around three and a half hours, while the crash was investigated by the Unit, and cleared.
