Two killed, 1 hurt following home invasion

Delaware State Police say a man and woman are dead, and a third victim was hurt, following an overnight home invasion.

Police say they responded to the 1400 block of John Clark Road in Rodney Village around 1:38 a.m. Saturday for a report of a home invasion with two suspects. According to police reports, a woman reported her 52-year-old father had been shot by one of the suspects during a struggle.

Police say the man’s son, who was home and apparently heard the altercation, was also shot after he chased after the suspects who fled the home.

According to authorities, shots were fired again during the foot chase which struck another woman. She was reportedly transferred to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police say it is unknown what her involvement in this incident is at this time.

The father was pronounced deceased at the scene, while his son was transported to a local area hospital where he was treated and released.

Police describe the first suspect as a black male, approximately 6’00” tall with a slim build, wearing dark clothing with his face partially covered and armed with unknown type of handgun.

The second suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’09’ to 5’10” tall with a slim build wearing dark clothing with his face partially covered and armed with unknown type of handgun.

According to Delaware State Police, the motive for this crime is unknown at this time; however, they say the incident does not appear to be a random act.
