Traffic stop in Felton lands one behind bars

A Dover man is behind bars without bond, after his second arrest in two months.
Delaware State Police say on Monday just after 9:00 PM, the Delaware State Police Kent County Governor’s Task Force and Drug Task Force noticed a grey Dodge Avenger on Barney Jenkins Road, run a stop sign at the intersection with South DuPont Highway.
Authorities then pulled over the Avenger, and spoke with the driver, 22-year-old Kevin A. McDonald Jr.. According to the report, during the stop, a K9 unit alerted, prompting a search of the vehicle. Police say they found a fully loaded .40 caliber handgun underneath the driver’s seat, along with over $500 in suspected drug proceeds.
McDonald was arrested, during which Police say they found 3.5 grams of crack cocaine. He was then charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (crack cocaine), possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a firearm/ammunition by a prohibited defendant of an alleged felony, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to stop at a stop sign, and failure to signal.
McDonald was arrested in September during “Operation Spiritus” for racketeering and drug dealing, prohibiting him from possessing a firearm. He was initially held at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on a $91,000 bond for Monday’s arrest, and without bond for violating bond for his September arrest.
