Sussex Tech Crowned Kings Of Georgetown

The Sussex Tech football team defeated their rivals Sussex Central 19-7 Monday night. The win makes 3 in a row now in the Battle for Georgetown, and improves the Ravens to 3-1 on the year, while the loss drops the Golden Knights to 1-3.

It would be a defensive battle early on as neither team would be able to get their offense going. Sussex Tech would finally get a spark as Timaun Williams would come up with an interception and take it all the way back to the Golden Knights 1. Tech would then take the lead as on the very next play, Patrick Griffin would take the hand off in for the score. Sussex Tech would take a 6-0 lead into half time, then stretch their lead to 12-0 after Griffin was able to find the endzone for the 2nd time in the third quarter. Then with 5 minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Golden Knights finally got their spark. Kiante Sturgis broke loose from mid field, and would scamper 50 yards in for the touchdown. The point after cut the Ravens lead to just 12-7. But the Ravens would respond. Facing 3rd and long, quarterback Justin Hill would find Williams, who would get up the sideline for a 50 yard pick up, and take the ball all the way down to the 5. Three plays later, the Ravens would ice the game after Griffin got his 3rd touchdown of the game.

Sussex Tech returns to action Saturday when they host Caesar Rodney, while Sussex Central host Cape Henlopen on Saturday.
