SU Police Dept. Halloween safety tips

For those planning on celebrating Halloween, Salisbury University Police want to remind you to be safe, whether you’re roaming the streets late at night with friends or you plan on drinking.

While they put out safety tips every semester, they say Halloween night is a night students should especially be on their best behavior and treat everyone with respect. They advise students to walk in large groups because people are less likely to approach you that way. They say to also stay on sidewalks, use crosswalks, and don’t venture on beaten paths.

47 ABC spoke with Lt. Joel Davies and he says, “Another safety tip would be if you’re walking along at night and you feel like someone’s following you, speed up your speed, walk a little bit faster, turn a different direction you can always walk up to a house and knock on a door that’s well lit.”

Lieutenant Davies says Salisbury University police plan on adding extra officers out in the community Friday night as well as Saturday night.
