Storms cause event cancellations across Delmarva

Due to the bad bad weather that has hit the Delmarva Peninsula, many organizations are choosing to cancel their events for the weekend. See below for a full list.

DELAWARE:

DEWEY BEACH, Del. –

  • Dewey Goes Pink 5k & 1 Mile Walk at the Starboard Restaurant will be rescheduled for October 10, 2015.

DOVER, Del. –

  • NASCAR Showcase & Hauler parade, scheduled to begin at the Blue Hen Corporate Center in Dover at 3 p.m. on Thursday, has been canceled.
  • The “Drive Sober 125” NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race will now be run at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3. Grandstand gates at Dover International Speedway will open for fans at 8 AM.
  • The Saturday, Oct. 3 “Hisense 200” NASCAR XFINITY Series race will start at the originally scheduled time of 3:30 AM.
  • Edgehill Community Church of God, 702 Maple Parkway in Dover, Delaware, is cancelling all services and activities scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2015. For further information please contact the Pastor, Dr. David Moshier, at 571-268-6905.

GEORGETOWN, Del. –

  • Wings and Wheels event on Saturday, October 3 is cancelled. There will not be a rain date. The Aviation Day Expo and Dinner & Show on Friday, October 2, 2015 is still on!
  • A Memorial Service to honor fallen Delaware State Trooper Raymond Wilhelm, originally planned for October 1, has been rescheduled for October 15, 2015.
  • First State Community Action Agency: The Credit Clinic scheduled for Saturday October 3rd in Georgetown has been postponed due to impending inclement weather. The Clinic will now take place on Saturday, October 10 from 9AM-12PM at First State in Georgetown.
  • Providence UMC at Georgetown DE Homecoming Service Oct. 4, 2015 cancelled due to weather.
  • Screams at the Beach cancelled for October 2 and 3.

GLASGOW, Del. –

  • Memorial Service to Honor Fallen Trooper Raymond B. Wilhelm has been rescheduled for Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 9:30 a.m on US 40, Pulaski Highway, in Glasgow, Del.

LEWES, Del. –

  • Due to the weekend’s weather forecast, both Cape May Lewes Ferry scheduled Wine Cruises are canceled, as are all shuttles for Saturday and Sunday.
  • University of Delaware – Sunday’s Coast Day at UD’s Lewes campus is cancelled.

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. –

  • Unity of  Rehoboth Beach has canceled all activities for Saturday and Sunday.

SEAFORD, Del. –

  • Delmarva Power’s planned power outage for Monday has been rescheduled to October 12.

SELBYVILLE, Del. –

  • Selbyville Ladies Aux. Craft and yard safe this Saturday at the Selbyville vol. Fire company – postponed till 10/24.

WYOMING, Del. –

  • Due to potential afternoon flooding concerns associated with heavy rainfall and extreme high tide conditions, students in the Caesar Rodney School District who reside in/around Kitts Hummock, Cyprus Branch Road and Jonathan’s Landing will be dismissed at 1:30 PM Friday afternoon. The students ride the following buses:

Assateague Island National Seashore:

  • Due to rapidly deteriorating conditions caused by the northeastern storm that is ahead of Hurricane Joaquin, Assateague Island National Seashore is closed until further notice. Keep up with changing weather conditions on the island by checking the Assateague weather station data.

CAMBRIDGE, Md. –

  • IRONMAN Triathlon postponed. “Due to projected flooding from abnormally high tides, heavy rain, wind, and the expected impact of Hurricane Joaquin, IRONMAN Maryland will not take place this Saturday.”

OCEAN CITY, Md. –

  • Atlantic United Methodist Church, Ocean City, Maryland – Sunday, October 4th – Worship Services cancelled

OCEAN PINES, Md. –

  • Ocean Pines Farmers Market will be closed this Saturday. The farmers market will re-open on Saturday, October 10th.
  • The Video Lottery Terminal (VOLT) small business loan information session, originally scheduled to take place at the Ocean Pines Branch Library on October 2, 2015 from 10 a.m. to noon, has been cancelled due to the impending inclement weather. The event will be rescheduled at a later date.
  • Ocean Pines district’s town hall meeting hosted by Worcester County Commissioner Chip Bertino for Saturday, has been been cancelled due to inclement weather. The event will be rescheduled in the near future.

SALISBURY, Md. –

  • Sea Gull Century has been canceled for Saturday, October 3. We do not do this lightly. The safety of our 6,000 cyclists, some 200 volunteers, support staff, spectators and others is our top priority.
  • Relay For Life of Wicomico County event scheduled for Friday, October 2 and Saturday, October 3 at Winterplace Park in Salisbury, Maryland will be cancelled in the best interest of the safety of our Survivors and Relayers.
  • The Ladies, Home Décor & Furniture Consignment Sale at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center, scheduled for this weekend has been postponed until Oct. 10-11 due to the weather forecast. 
  • Due to inclement weather the 2nd Annual Life Crisis Center 5k has been cancelled. Thank You to all of our supporters who signed up.   • Installation Service at Faith Christian Full Gospel Baptist Church, scheduled for Saturday has been postponed until Nov. 7th.

VIENNA, Md. –

  • Layton’s Chance Pick up Party with Hayrides POSTPONED! Originally scheduled for October 4, 2-4pm has been postponed until October 11, 2-4.

WICOMICO CO., Md. –

  • Bennett Middle: STARS basketball scheduled for Friday after school has been canceled. STARS basketball play will resume next Friday after school.

  • The SAT testing that was scheduled at Salisbury Middle School on Saturday, Oct. 3 has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17.

  • All athletics and outdoor events scheduled for this weekend have been cancelled due to the weather forecast and our concern for the safety of our students and community participants.

  • All indoor events scheduled for this weekend are still on pending another weather evaluation tomorrow. Schools will release information on whether their particular event will continue as planned or be cancelled.

WORCESTER CO., Md. –

  • Due to inclement weather, Isle of Wight Park will close at 3:00 PM Friday, and will remain closed throughout the weekend. The park will reopen on Monday.
