Potential damage to Ocean City beaches after storms

Ocean City officials say there is a concern for the potential damage to the beaches. There is currently no beach replenishment plan for 2015 in Ocean City, but officials say they don’t always have one each year. Ocean City engineers are already taking steps to start evaluating the current storm damage.

Terry McGean, Ocean City Engineer, says “We are going to have these high tides for days ina row is a cause for concern of how much beach we can potentially lose.”

After the storm officials will decide if they need to take emergency action and haul sand for temporary repairs do a full beach restoration or not take any action at all.
Full beach replenishment can be very costly  Ocean City spent 10 million dollars after Hurricane Sandy to restore its beaches completely.

Officials say beach replenishment can impact fishing in Ocean city as well.
