Pocomoke Field Hockey Overpowers Parkside

The Pocomoke field hockey team hit the road Tuesday afternoon and defeated Bayside South foe Parkside by the score of 7-1. The win improves the Warriors to 6-3, while the loss drops the Rams to 4-4.
The Warriors went right to work as Lexi Butler would take one up the left side and beat the keeper for the score. Shortly after that, she would add another one off a corner to push the lead to 2-0. The Warriors would continue to push, and earn several corners. Dani Batze would score off a corner at the midway point of the first half to help build a comfortable lead, before LuAnne Mottley would take a past at the far post and finish it to stretch the lead to 4-0. Batze would add one more in the first half as Pocomoke would take a 5-0 lead into half.
The Rams came out firing in the second half and began to take control of the possession. They would get on the board after Kelsey Sterling would find the back of the cage. While the offense was never able to mount a big comeback, Parkside’s keeper Tori Barmoy played an outstanding game, coming up with several very impressive saves. The Warriors kept coming though as they would close it out for the win.
Pocomoke returns to the field Friday when they host Queen Anne’s in their homecoming game, while Parkside travels to Stephen Decatur on Thursday.
