Pocomoke City celebrates 150 years

This weekend Pocomoke City celebrated their sesquicentennial, or their 150th anniversary.
The city wasn’t always called Pocomoke though, it started out as a little place called New Town back in 1865.
It wasn’t until 1874, that town adopted it’s current name named after the river that runs through the city.
This weekend the town celebrated with a series of events, including the Men’s Beard Contest, the Annual Downtown Fall Festival and a free Ice Cream Social that took place Sunday at the Costen House Museum, home to Pocomoke City’s first mayor.
