Pedestrian hit by teen driver reportedly under the influence in Seaford

A Seaford woman is recovering, after she was reportedly hit by a driver under the influence of drugs, while walking.
Seaford Police say on Friday around 5:50 PM, Officers responded to Stein Highway, for reports of a pedestrian crash. Once on scene, Police say they learned that a 1995 Buick operated by a 17-year-old Seaford boy, was driving on Stein Highway, near Elm Drive, when a 56-year-old crossed the Highway, directly in front of the vehicle. Police say the Buick wasn’t able to avoid a collision, and hit the woman.
The 56-year-old was rushed from the scene to Christiana Hospital, where she is currently listed in stable condition. Seaford Police say during the investigation, they found that the 17-year-old was under the influence of marijuana.
Officers reportedly found about 7 grams of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia, inside of the Buick. The teen was then taken into custody, and given a criminal summons for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of drugs, no proof of insurance, and no proof of registration.
Seaford Police say Delaware State Police’s Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the crash, and have assumed the investigation.
