Parkside Girls Soccer Earn 10th Bayside Title

The Parkside girls soccer team earned their 10th Bayside Championship in program history Monday night, when they defeated Queen Anne’s 4-0.
The Rams would be in a battle early on before finally getting on the board. Julie Venere would finish the first half of her life in style. First she would carved the Lions back line, eluding two defenders before putting a perfect shot in for the first score of the game. Then late in the half, she would add another off a drop pass from Kara Osborne. Parkside would take the 2-0 lead into the break, and stretch it to 3-0 in the beginning minutes of the second half, after Blair Vilov would send a cross through the box and find Tori Appel at the far post, who put it home. The Lions would then try and get back on the board, as they began to press the issue. The Rams looked content to lean on their defense with the three goal lead, as their back line was playing an outstanding game. Several times through balls looked to give an opportunity for Julia Reed and Savanna Corcoran, but the Rams would clear the ball at the last second. The defense was anchored by an incredible performance by Rachel Bratten, who was everyone on the field it felt like. Even when Queen Anne’s was finally able to get a foot on the ball for a shot, they all seemingly want straight to Miyuki Schoyen, who would easily clear them. Vilov would then put the game away, adding the games final goal on a break away where she beat the keeper far post.
Both teams prepare now for the state playoffs which are set to get underway this Friday.
