Officials eye damage in Crisfield

Crisfield experienced minor flooding on some streets as a result of a wet weekend on Delmarva, with high tides.

Officials say they were pretty fortunate, but they are keeping their eye on any damages that might have resulted from this weekend.

Some areas saw flooding as high as seven inches, with some streets like 5th and Broadway completely underwater.

According to city manager Rick Pollitt, the town is flood-prone because Crisfield already has a low elevation which some impact some houses.

“If you’re living in a house that’s built close to the ground and you have a low yard anyway, then that water can come up and wash your yard after a while and get into your house,” He says.

Town officials say this was not the worst they’ve seen, but the amount of flooding was fairly unusual.
