Mooney, Buc’s Show Out In Win Over Parkside

The Kent Island football team traveled to Salisbury Friday night and defeated Parkside 34-6. The win improves the Buccaneers to 8-1, while the loss drops the Rams to 5-4.
The Buc’s would take their opening drive right down the field and cap it off with a short touchdown run from Mikey Quinn to get things started. Then after a 3 and out from the Rams, it looked like Kent Island might score again before Parkside’s defense came up with a big play. A huge hit would knock the ball loose, and Trajon Branch would fall on it for Parkside. They would be forced to punt again though, and this time the Buc’s would be able to finish their drive off with another score. Luke Fromort would drop back to pass, elude the pressure then throw to the back of the endzone where Sean Mooney made a tremendous leaping catch, and then was able to get his toes down in bounds for the score. The Rams would then get aggressive on their next drive and decide to run a fake punt from their 20 yard line facing 4th and 15. The attempt would fail, and Kent Island would turn it into more points. JD PiPietro would score a short touchdown run to make it a 3 score game. The Rams could never get back within striking distance from there, and the Buccaneers closed the game out for the win.
Parkside finishes their regular season next Friday when they travel to Washington, while Kent Island has their season finale at Queen Anne’s next Friday.
