MD fire depts. look to lessen the risks of fire this weekend

70% of house fire deaths result from homes with non-working smoke alarms or no alarms at all. That’s according to the National Fire Protection Agency.
To help prevent that number from rising, fire departments across Maryland are using this weekend to properly educate and equip residents and their homes.
As apart of “Maryland Fire Service Community Risk Reduction Weekend”, we’re told firefighters will spread out within their communities to both check and install smoke alarms.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office says in addition to a working alarm, all households should have a fire escape plan.
