Mardela Springs native sketches his way into the Star Wars universe

Growing up infatuated with the Star Wars saga, Mardela Springs native and UMES art professor Brad Hudson became captivated with the intergalactic series and its characters.
As he aged, his love for one of the most successful movie franchises of all-time evolved, prompting him to draw some of his favorite characters.
“I can vividly remember drawing Darth Vader as a kid trying to draw the mask and the different characters.”, Said Hudson.
Combined, his artistic ability and his love for the series have allowed him to take advantage of a very cool opportunity that came about while he was at a convention with his students.
He tells 47 ABC, “My work was noticed by the brand manager for Topps and he really liked my work. He found it exciting and really wanted me to do some sketch cards for their Star Wars series.”
As apart of the deal with Topps, Hudson has been sketching figures ranging from Sith Lords like Darth Vader to Jedi masters like Yoda. Allowing Star Wars fanatics from all over to appreciate is his talents.
“People will find my cards and they will message me (and say) “oh I got one of your cards today.” And “It’s an exciting thing to think that all of these characters that I grew up watching, I can draw and people get to see my interpretation of these characters all over the globe right now.”, said Hudson.
Regardless of how many people see his cards Hudson says that the opportunity to be apart of the Star Wars series is well worth it.
“Just to be apart of the franchise is exciting.”
