Man charged after ATV hits police cruiser

(AP) – New Castle County Police have charged a man with multiple traffic offenses after an ATV hit a police cruiser in Wilmington.

It happened on Thursday in a parking lot near the Canby Park Shopping Center. Officers say a man was driving an ATV recklessly through the parking lot.
    
Authorities say an officer found the man trying to repair the vehicle, but as he approached, the ATV lunged forward and became wedged under the front bumper.
    
Police say the man tried to free the ATV, then fled on foot. The man was apprehended.
    
Eighteen-year-old Joshua Torres of Wilmington was charged with resisting arrest and numerous traffic offenses.
