Man arrested for stealing liquor from a restaurant

Matthew Doughty, 53, of Tyaskin

Members of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office say they arrested Matthew Doughty, 53, following the burglary of a Tyaskin restaurant in September.

Investigators say Doughty was captured after surveillance footage showed him using a screw driver to force open a locked liquor cabinet door.

Authorities say Doughty was seen removing two bottles of bourbon whiskey from the cabinet, before making an attempt to wipe his fingerprints from the front of the cabinet.

After further investigation, deputies obtained a warrant for Doughty’s arrest. Police say they took him into custody and charged him with 2nd and 4th degree burglary, and theft under $100.00

Doughty was reportedly later released on $5,000.00 unsecured bond.
