Laurel HS teacher honored

A Sussex County educator was awarded in the “Teachers Who Make A Difference” contest, sponsored by 47 ABC and Accurate Optical, on Tuesday.

The winner for the month of September is Jennifer Teagle.

Our crew surprised her on Tuesday at Laurel High School, where she teaches 11th grade English.

Teagle is a Sussex county native and has been teaching at Laurel for nine years, but it’s her 11th year teaching overall. She says the key for any teacher to evolve as an educator throughout the years is to be reflective.

“Everyday, looking back and saying…did I do the best that I can do? Did I make whatever topic they’re trying to learn…did I break it down enough so they can see how to do it, but also the relevancy in doing it as well?” Explains Teagle.

If you would like nominate a teacher, be sure to head to check out our “contests” section.
