Lake Forest Football Tops Woodbridge In Slugfest

Lake Forest’s football team picked up a road conference win Thursday night when they defeated Woodbridge 9-7. The win improves the Spartans to 2-2, while the loss drops the Blue Raiders 2-2.

Trevon Milton broke loose for a 41 yard touchdown run for the Spartans to give them the early lead. After that, both teams had a hard time moving the ball as Lake would take a 6-0 lead into halftime. The Spartans would then execute a perfect punt late in the 3rd quarter and pin the Blue Raiders on their own 1 yard line. After 2 short runs, the Spartans defense would come up with an interception on the 12 yard line. The drive would stall, and the Spartans would settle for a short field goal by Austin Aguilar to stretch their lead to 9-0. The momentum of the game then switched as Lake would be forced to punt, and Shymere Vessela would return it 65 yards to the house. The point after made it a 2 point game.

Following a 3 and out by Lake, the Blue Raiders would drive the length of the field before their drive would stall on the 20. Facing 4th and 12, Dawaunta Parker would break into the backfield and force a strip sack, that the Spartans would recover. Lake would run out the clock and hold on for the win.
