Lake Forest buckles down to defeat Laurel

The Lake Forest Spartans held off the Laurel Bulldogs to earn a tough 18-13 win Friday night in Felton.
Laurel struck first, midway thru the first quarter off a 25 yard touchdown pass from QB Perez Nichols to Howard Straughn. Lake would answer back just a couple minutes later off a Noah Feague-Johnson touchdown run. Feague-Johnson would follow up that run with a 2 yard TD in the second, as Lake took a 12-6 lead into the locker room.
In the second half, Laurel would put together a drive late in the third quarter that ended in a Shyheim Holden 10 yard touchdown fun on 4th down. The lead would change hands once again with time running out in the third quarter. Lake’s Ben Moore took an option pitch 57 yards to the endzone.
In the fourth, Laurel had multiple chances to score, but the Spartan defense buckled down time and time again. The win moves Lake to 4-2 as they travel to Glasgow next week, while Laurel (2-4) will go on to host Milford.
