Kent Island Advances In The State Tournament
The Kent Island Buccaneers took the field at home against the Stephen Decatur Seahawks in the field hockey state tournament.
The Bucs were looking to get a win following Monday night’s loss to Pocomoke in the Bayside Championship game, however, the beauty of the state tournament is none of the rankings matter. For that, the Seahawks were attempting to get things done on the field Thursday afternoon, despite a tough season. These two faced one another in the regular season and Kent Island got the win, but could Decatur put up a fight today against the Bucs?
Kent Island got off to a great start and they ended up taking a7-0 lead at halftime, and they would come out in the second half and continue to add to that score for the remainder of the game. Some of the buccaneer players were saying they wanted to make a statement in this game in order to intimidate their next opponent in the next round and they did that out there on the field.
Kent Island got the win today, 12 – 0, and they are moving onto the next round of the state tournament.
