Indian River Football Stuns Laurel On Road

The Indian River football team hit the road Friday night and pulled off a huge upset win over Laurel 28-18. The win improves the Indian to 2-3, while the loss drops the Bulldogs to 2-3.

Laurel would jump out to an early lead after Shyheim Holden would block a Indians punt, setting up for a short touchdown run by Perez Nichols. The ‘Dawgs would take a 6-0 lead into half, and watch their lead build to 12-0 after Nichols would take a keeper in off the left side. The Indians then would capitalize off a Laurel turnover, and make it 6 points after Isiah Morris would bust a 30 yard run up the left side for the score. Laurel would have the answer though with a 12 yard touchdown run by Holden just before half. But the Indians came out ready play in the second half. A fumble recovery returned for a score cut the ‘Dawgs lead to just 18-12. IR would then turn another Laurel turnover into a touchdown to give them the lead, and they would close it out from there for the win.

Indian River host Milford next Friday, while Laurel returns to work when they travel to Lake Forest next Friday.
