House fire in Marion ruled accidental, $250k in damages

A house fire in Marion that caused a quarter of a million dollars in damages, has been ruled as accidental.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says a passerby reported a fire at a Cedar Landing Drive home, around 3:15 PM on Thursday. According to the report, 20 firefighters from Marion, Crisfield, and Fairmont responded, and had the one alarm blaze under control in 90 minutes.

Investigators say they found that the fire started in a void space over the kitchen, and was accidental in nature. It was apparently caused by the failure of an electrical circuit within the home. Damages are estimated to total $251,000. No injuries were reported.
