Heroin overdose reversed by Narcan in Dorchester Co.

Authorities in Dorchester County are crediting a medication, and training with saving the life of a man in Rhodesdale.
The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office says on Wednesday, Deputies and Dorchester County E.M.S. responded to a home for reports of a heroin overdose. Once on scene, Officials say they found that a 48-year-old man had injected heroin, and was drinking alcohol.
The victim was reportedly laying on the floor, blue and unresponsive upon their arrival. According to the report, the Deputy then injected departmental issued Narcan, to which the victim responded.
He was then rushed to Dorchester General Hospital for treatment, and had apparently regained consciousness and was speaking when he arrived.
Dorchester County Sheriff, James W. Phillips Jr., says that all Dorchester County Sheriff’s personnel have been trained in the use of Narcan, and have been issued kits.
