Happy Homecoming! SU Football Upsets No. 13 Rowan

The Salisbury University football got to celebrate their homecoming game in grand style Saturday afternoon when they pulled off a 31-28 upset win over No. 13 Rowan. The win improves the Sea Gulls to 3-1 on the year.
Rowan would strike first after their QB Marcelin would score a 1 yard touchdown run with 6:30 remaining in the first quarter. The Sea Gulls then got on the board with a 25 yard field goal from Alex Potocko. The SU would take the lead off a Jerome Johnson touchdown run in the 2nd quarter. Rowan would counter with another Marcelin touchdown to take a 14-9 lead into the locker rooms. SU Came out firing in the second half. They got the action started with a Christian Wilson pick-6 on the 2nd play of the half. Shortly after that, the Gulls would stretch their lead after Aarron Moore took a sweep off the left side, and hurdled a defender to get into the endzone. It then became a 31-14 lead after Ryan Jones found Isiah Taylor from 42 yards out. But Rowan had a run left in them. They would push down the field and get back into the endzone after Dante Pinckney would score a short run off the left side. Then Marcelin was back at it, for his 3rd touchdown of the game to cut it to a 3 point deficit. SU would go on a long drive to chew up most the clock but eventually turn it over on down with under a minute to play. Rowan would try and drive but waste time before finally getting started. They would try a Hail Mary as time expired, but it would fall incomplete.
Salisbury University returns to work next Saturday when they host William Paterson.
