Gov. Challenge Session II – December 29 & 30 (P2)

Boy’s Bracket #5

FORESTVILLE – As one of the smallest schools in the Prince George’s County league, Forestville may turn some heads with their guard play, as two key backcourt contributors from last year return with another years under their belts.

THOMAS STONE – A yearly contender in the Southern MD area, Thomas Stone comes to Salisbury for another year. The Cougars have been involved in some memorable games in recent Governor’s Challenge history, including a triple-overtime classic in 2013.

TALLWOOD (VA) – Making the trip up from Virginia Beach, Tallwood is a potential dark horse, as they return 10 of 14 players from last year’s team, which finished with a .500 record.

OLD MILL – After a solid season last year, Old Mill returns some key players with another year of experience, including Camari Wilkerson – a talented guard who doubles as a star for Old Mill’s football team.

Boy’s Bracket #6

COLONEL RICHARDSON -The Colonels will be looking to rebuild from losing a couple of their key players, including David Dickerson who was a 1,000 point scorer in his time at CR. The team also loses a lot of production at the guard positions.  The team looks to be young this year, and in rebuilding mode.

BLADENSBURG – With a high-energy squad that has been battle tested in Prince George’s County, Bladensburg should come to Salisbury ready to compete for a bracket championship after coming up short last year.

JH BLAKE – After being involved in an instant classic last year against Bennett, Blake returns to this year’s tournament as the prohibitive favorite in their bracket. Look out for entertaining point guard Jack Tempkin, a skilled shooter and savvy playmaker.

CONRAD SCHOOL OF SCIENCE -The Redskins finished 14-6 a year ago, with their season ending with a loss at Smyrna. The team is expected to be even better this year, after graduating just one senior. Conrad will be expecting a big season out of their dynamic guard Jordon Blake, who had several big performances a year ago.

Boy’s Bracket #7

HIGH POINT – After playing through a difficult season last year in the loaded PG County 4A division, High Point is looking to use this year’s tournament as a springboard to a more competitive season.

BEN FRANKLIN – Ben Franklin won their bracket championship last year, and brings a hard-nosed style of Baltimore City basketball that has proven successful at past Governor’s Challenge events.

MOORE CATHOLIC (NY) – Coming from the Staten Island area, Moore Catholic is hoping to replicate the sort of success that St. Joe’s by the Sea had at last year’s event, when they took home a bracket championship.

SNOW HILL – The Eagles come into this season looking to build off of their playoff win from a season ago over North Dorchester. Snow Hill will be led b y their solid guard Takhai Wise. Snow Hill looks ready to take the next step this season.
