Former Nanticoke chief honored

A memorial service with full military honors were held Sunday for former Nanticoke Indian Chief Kenneth Clark.

Clark’s father and grandfather both served as chiefs of the Nanticoke tribe.

When Clark’s father passed away in 1971, Clark was elected chief and held that position for over 30 years.

Prior to his time as chief, Clark  served in the Navy and also served an eight year stint as police officer in Philadelphia.

He passed away on October 9, one month before his eighty-fifth birthday.
