Fatal crash in Worcester under investigation

A fatal crash that happened on Monday morning in Worcester County, is under investigation.

The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office says their Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating a commercial vehicle crash that happened on Sheppards Crossing Road, near Shavox Church Road on Monday morning just after 10:15 AM. According to the report, a truck driven by 55-year-old Michael Smith, of Lewes, Delaware, was driving on Shavox Road, when it drifted into the soft shoulder of the roadway.

Investigators say Smith then over-corrected, causing the truck to cross over the center line of Sheppards Crossing Road, and overturned. Officials say Smith sustained fatal injuries in the crash, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The case remains under investigation. The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with any information to call them at 410 632-1111.
