Delmar Field Hockey Remains Undefeated
Heading into Thursday’s match up between Delmar in Polytech, both teams looked to keep their unbeaten streak and their undefeated season alive.
Early in the first half, Delmar managed to put away a goal to take a 1-0 lead and the Wildcats would hold that lead for majority of the first half. Delmar was relentless in front of the net and showed a lot of dominance in the first half, but Polytech managed to keep the Wildcats at just one goal. The Panthers continued to push offensively as well and put away the equalizer late into the first half – at half this game was tied 1-1.
In the second half, it was the Panthers who got on the board early to take the 2-1 lead. Polytech continued to hold onto that lead until there was only 16 seconds left in regulation, when Haley Bitters put away the game-tying goal that would send it into overtime.
In overtime, it did not take long for the Wildcats to get see their dreams come true in from of the own eyes scoring the game-winning goal. Just 2:30 into overtime, Paige Twilley-Webster found the back of the net and Delmar remains undefeated this season with a 3-2 win over Polytech, 3-2 the final.
