Delaware marijuana commission meets – eyes future

The medicinal marijuana oversight committee for Delaware held their first meeting earlier this week.

Officials say the group will focus on analyzing the first state’s medicinal marijuana program, so they can make recommendations on how the program, and laws related to it, can improve.

So far though, Delaware health officials say medicinal marijuana has worked well in the first state.

“Although we’re in our infancy we’re learning a lot and I think we’re moving in a very strong positive direction,” said Paul Hyland, public health administrator for Delaware. “I think in the next 12 month, yes I think we’ll be opening another center.”

Hyland says ultimately the committee will decide whether there is enough demand for a second dispensary to open.

Hyland also says prices have dropped and variety has increased at the the states only dispensary, First State Compassion Center in Wilmington.
