City council members vote to approve funding for downtown ambassadors program

The city of Salisbury is moving forward with plans to apply for a grant that would lead to a downtown ambassador’s program.

City council voted last night in favor of applying for the 19-thousand dollar grant. It’s made available by the department of housing and community development, under their Main Street improvement program.

The city is looking to hire four ambassadors who would essentially become “friendly faces of downtown Salisbury.”

They would show visitors around to local restaurants, promote events, and provide information about the city.

The application deadline for the grant is Thursday, October 27, 2015.

Officials tell 47 ABC that Salisbury application will be submitted tomorrow.

If the city is approved, Salisbury is reportedly looking to implement the program next May.
