Buccaneers make a big statement with road shutout of Cambridge

The Kent Island Buccaneers improved to 6-1 on the season after going on the road and pitching a shutout, defeating Cambridge 33-0 Thursday night.

Joe Sweet and Mike Quinn led the Buccaneers offense, scoring two rushing touchdowns a piece. QB Luke Fromert hit Sean Mooney for a 10 yard touchdown midway thru the first quarter to give the Bucs the early lead. A couple of Bert Screrongost field goals later, the Bucs held a 13-0 lead. Sweet would score his first touchdown of the night before the half to give K.I. the 19-0 lead going into the locker room.

The second half Quinn began to find his stride. After a couple of bruising runs in the first half, Quinn would break free in the second, scoring the Buccaneers final two touchdowns.

Kent Island hosts Easton next weekend, while Cambridge travels to Washington.
