Attorney General discusses Delaware state gun law loopholes

Delaware Attorney General Matt Denn announced plans to reform the state justice system on Thursday. He’s focusing on changing the ‘Three Strikes and You’re Out’ law.
That law calls for a mandatory life sentence for someone convicted of three violent felonies, regardless of what the crime was. However, Denn is also targeting loopholes in Delaware’s gun crime laws.
The attorney general says his office is going to continue to advocate for legislation to be passed that will guarantee jail time for young adults who were found guilty of violent felonies as juveniles; and then are later found to be illegally possessing a firearm.
Denn says, “Gun possession and gun use among young people is a profound problem in our state. We cannot send the message to young people that’s there’s an escape patch down the road if they carry a gun or use a gun.”
