Atlantic Town Center appeal denied

A company looking to develop on more than a hundred acres in Accomack County has been denied by a zoning appeals board.
Atlantic Town Center Properties wants to build the county’s first planned-use development constructing apartments and town homes on one-hundred and six acres just off of route 1-75.
The appeal was to reverse the county zoning administrator’s August decision requiring the developer to apply for a new conditional use permit to build a water tank on a property. The request was asking to use the same permit that was approved for a different location.
Residents have been vocal for months about their opposition to the development. There is also a pending lawsuit between the developer of the Atlantic Town Center and the county for $8 million dollars over a zoning conflict. We’re told this law suit is separate from this denied appeal.
