Argument leads to gunshots, two arrested

Two men have been arrested after an argument led to multiple gunshots, according to Milford Police.

Authorities responded to a home on the 100 block of West Street just after 2:00 a.m. Saturday. An investigation found that 41-year-old Lincoln man Eric Harris went to the home to contact 28-year-old Milford man Joseynazio “Jose” Columbo after an apparent argument over the phone.

Police say as Harris arrived and got out of his car, Columbo exited the home armed with a crowbar and attempted to hit Harris several times. Colombo then allegedly smashed out all of the windows on Harris’ car with the crowbar.

As Colombo went back to the home, police say Harris got a shotgun out of his car and fired into the windows of the residence. According to police, the shotgun rounds struck various items inside the residence.

Harris also allegedly obtained a metal pipe and threw it through a window of the residence.

According to the police report, there were a total of 11 people inside the residence during the shooting including five children: a 17-year-old, five-year-old, two-year-old, one-year-old, and an eight-month-old.

No one was injured inside the home.

After firing the shots into the residence, police say Harris tried to hide the shotgun in a nearby yard prior to the arrival of police. The shotgun was later located by the Milford Police K-9.

Colombo has been charged with Aggravated Menacing and Criminal Mischief over $1000 but less than $5000. Colombo has been committed to Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $3,000.00 secured bond.

Harris was charged with 11 counts of 1st degree Reckless Endangering, five counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Deadly Weapon By a Person Prohibited and Criminal Mischief over $1000 but less than $5000. Harris was also reportedly wanted on active capiases out of several courts.

Harris he has been committed to Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $57,000.00 secured bond.
