Wico. Co. residents urged to take neighborhood survey

A new online survey for Wicomico County residents will allow them to give their input on the relationship between Salisbury University and the community.
The survey, administered through The Optimal College Town Assessment, will be available from October 1 through November 30.
Among other questions, the form includes topics like campus events, student interaction and housing.
Salisbury is reportedly the third campus in the country to conduct the survey. It joins Ohio State at Mansfield and St. Catherine College Kentucky.
Robby Sheehan, Director of Government and Community Relations at Salisbury University, explains the school is a member of the International Town-Gown Association. According to school officials, the mission is to “strengthen partnerships between university campuses and their communities.”
Sheehan says this survey can possibly help identify whether there’s mutual interest in projects like community expansion.
“There’s a buzz in the community with everything that’s going on downtown that they want to see Salisbury become a college town,” He says. “We’re developing strategies and identifying ways we can partner with local businesses, the chamber of commerce, the greater Salisbury committee, so that we can become this college town.”
Salisbury University will be holding a town hall meeting for residents on Tuesday, October 6 at 6:30 p.m. It will be held in the Fellowship at Bethany Lutheran Church.
