Wesley Football Stays Perfect, Rolls CNU

The Wesley football team stayed perfect on the year with a 44-24 win over Christopher Newport Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Wolverines to 2-0, and also marked the 200th for head coach Mike Drass.
Coach Drass was honored pre-game as the field was named after him to recognize his work over the past 22 years leading the program. The Wolverines would give him reason to be excited early, as Joe Callahan marched his team down the field and would find Alex Kemp for a 20 yard touchdown score. The Captains would respond though, as they would put together a strong drive and finish it off with a a 7 yard touchdown run by Daquan Davis. Callahan would then collect his 2nd touchdown of the game, after he shook 2 would-be sacks, and aired one deep down the field to James Okike for a 75 yard score. But again the Captains would respond. This time, Robinson would score on a touchdown run off the left side to give the road team a 17-14 lead. But it was all Wesley from there. After a long Jamar Baynard touchdown run, Callahan would find Okike in the back of the end zone just before halftime to give Wesley a 28-17 lead. Baynard would add a couple more touchdown runs as the Wolverines would close it out from there.
The Wolverines return to work next Saturday when they travel to North Central (III).
