UPDATE: WBI investigating sexual assault near Delmar Elementary
Law enforcement is investigating a reported sexual assault in Delmar.
The Wicomico Bureau of Investigation says on Friday morning, around 7:00 AM, the Delmar Police Department responded to an emergency call for service for a reported sexual assault, in the area of the Mason Dixon Athletic Fields, on Foskey Lane, in Delmar, in the area of Delmar Elementary School.
Officers from the Delmar Police Department and the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded, and after an initial assessment, investigators with the Wicomico Bureau of Investigation responded and assumed the scene.
Law enforcement says they now know everyone involved in the situation, and that the investigation is continuing at this time. They reportedly have a male suspect in custody, and are questioning him. There is reportedly no danger or risk to the public.
Wicomico County Public Schools says the school was not put on lockdown during the investigation.
