UPDATE: Trappe man arrested on harassment charges

50-year-old James Leon Lempke Jr,. of Trappe, Md.

A Trappe man who was wanted on harassment charges, has been arrested.

The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office says on Thursday, a Deputy took 50-year-old James Lempke Jr., into custody.

According to the report, he was wanted by the Cambridge Police Department for two counts of harassment, 2 counts of harassment by electronic mail, distribution of obscene materials, and witness retaliation.

The charges stem from an investigation that reportedly showed that Lempke sent threatening and obscene messages, along with obscene photographs via cellphone, to a Trappe husband and wife from July 7, 2015 through August 28, 2015. At that time, the Trappe Police Department says that Lempke was out on bond for failure to appear in District Court, on similar earlier charges that were also filed by the Trappe couple.

Lempke was ordered to be held at the Dorchester County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond, but at a bail review hearing on Friday, the District Court Judge for Dorchester County increased the bond to $100,000.
