UPDATE: Route 589 reopened following deputy-involved crash

Route 589 at the North Gate in Ocean Pines has been re-opened after a motor vehicle collision.

According to the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, Saturday’s crash involved two cars including one of their deputies and one other person around 2:00 p.m.

Injuries to the driver and deputy are reportedly minor, according to authorities. An official from Maryland State Police says the deputy was taken an area hospital but has since been released.

We’re told Maryland State Police is handling the accident collision report.

The investigation is ongoing.
