UPDATE: Bullet proof vest wearing fugitive convicted for Dorchester Co. murder

Deshaune Darling, of Salisbury, MD

A Salisbury man convicted in Wicomico County for leading law enforcement on a police chase, has now also been convicted in the murder of a Delaware man, in Dorchester County.

The Dorchester County State’s Attorney says on Wednesday, a jury convicted Deshaune Darling of first degree murder, kidnapping, and other released offenses, following a six day trial. The charges stem from an investigation related to the disappearance of Radames Guzman.

He was reported missing in August 2014, and his body was found in the Linkwood area of Dorchester County about three weeks later. Investigators with the Maryland State Police Homicide unit, and the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, conducted the investigation. Darling’s sentencing is expected to take place in December.

Back in May, Darling was sentenced to 30 years behind bars, in connection to an attempted traffic stop, which led to a high-speed car chase through three Eastern Shore Counties. When he finally stopped, he was found to be wearing a bullet proof armour vest, and armed with a .40 caliber handgun. In Kent County Delaware, he was also apparently convicted of drug charges.

Editor’s Note: Deshaune Darling’s name has previously been spelled as Deshawn and Deshaun. Dorchester County says Deshaune is correct.
