Two arrested for nearly $30,000 in fake cash bonds

The Laurel Police Dept. arrested 22-year-old Courtney Hilaire from Avon, Ma and his 17-year-old female accomplice for 13 counts of second degree forgery and one count of second degree conspiracy Thursday.

According to officials Hilaire and his accomplice had several counterfeit American Express Travelers Checks in their possession when they were stopped during a routine traffic stop.

Further investigation revealed the two individuals had traveled to Virginia where they purchased several items with counterfeit checks and were on their way back to Massachusetts when they were stopped.

Hilaire was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $15,000 bond, while his accomplice was sent to the Stevenson House on $14,000 bond.
