SU Women’s Soccer Rallies In The Second Half For A Win

The Salisbury University women’s soccer team took the field Saturday afternoon taking on the Catholic University Cardinals at home. While the Sea Gulls did not get the shut out, their offense picked up the pieces.

The Gulls went down 1-0 early on after a bad clearance into the middle to the Lindsay Aleman’s feet – who caught Hope Knussman off her line – and put it away for the lead. Salisbury continued to fight on for the equalizer, which came late in the first half from Erin McQuate and the score would remain 1-1 at half.

SU picked up right where they left off, and won the game today on set pieces – first a corner where the Gulls put together three-straight headers when eventually Christine Clarke put the final touch on it to take the 2-1 lead. Later in the second half, Samantha Beck was fouled in the box for a penalty kick and Jenna DeLetto managed to put away the P.K. helping the Gulls extend their lead. Salisbury University capped off a 3-1 victory at home over the Cardinals.

SU will hit the road to take on Stevensville Tuesday night with a 7:00 pm start.
